Well i think i should start the Discussion.
I am looking to create a Tau Cadre (hunting group). At the moment my ideas contain most of the Tau race but it all depends on numbers. I am going to start people off as basic pathfinder units untill we get more numbers and materials etc.
I have a few plans on costume I just need to have a look around and find them lol.
these will be made simple but strong (possibly a layer of fibre glass). I am going to look at making a mould of some sort so in can produce them quickly and cheaply but as i said it all depends on numbers.
As for the weapons i wish to start with pulse rifles. These are still in the planning stages and may be made out of a light wood so it can withstand the effects. As for the insides, these will be an AEP or possible custom AEG internals depending on gearbox etc.
I will go away now and come up with the colour scheme for people to see aswell as decide on a name.

I've always thought that the best weapon to base Tau pulse weaponry is the FN P90 and the FN2000. The Ergonomics suit the pulserifle and pulsecarbine designs perfectly.

come to think about it i have never considered the f2000 or the p90. the only problem i can think of is that the stock and grip are different on the pulse rifle varients

Those are definately useful drawings for anyone to be making a pulse rifle with... to be honest I think F2000 has my vote, just sleeve the front half in a wood or moulded blocky section. I wont look exactly the same at the back but all the key features will be right and it would be a doable conversion -if you try to get it perfect nobody will be able to copy it.

yeh i guess thats true. i love the pictures. good job! i will get on some plans and see. it should be easy enough. im just think about materials now. wood would be a little too heavy for the front end. could use some of that plasticard perhaps with some fibreglass maybe.
any ideas?

Plasticard would look nice and smooth and angular but your need some sort of frame to make sure it can take knocks. Fibreglass you obviously are not going to have that problem but (unless you can buy some sort of uniform fibreglass sheet) you have all the problems and expense of casting and making it smooth enough.

well i actually seen a piece of wood in Wickes (where i work) that seems to be idea size. it will just need attaching to gun etc and a barrel added. i will try and get the sizes tommorow while im in work. to cover the join, one can simply use metal epoxy or another epoxy that can be sanded to leave a smooth finish.
the finish on the wood would still be a thing to think about

its ok i have it sorted now i think if the VN mags actually fit the f2000 then that will be the way to go with mags. im still having problems with the proportions of the pulse carbine and i keep ketting tempted to mak a SV-15 stealth suit complete with burst cannon hehehe

The VN mags are slightly differant at the mag catch slot, they don't quite fit the G36 magwell conversion but they should still fit the FN2000.

I bought a JLS FN2000 and it's a bit odd. Due to a bit of metal sticking out at an annoying place in the magwell, the gun won't take low or midcap magazines unless you saw bits off them. High-caps fit fine through.
