Name is Martyn, based out of the old HiveCity of Birmingham Been airsofting for around 6 years now and been aware of 40K for longer though I haven't played it much in the past years though I do want to get back into it and create my latest Guard army properly. I have always had an interest in the Imperial Guard as it is so much like our own current armies so can see how to adapt and base the units and so on. Joined up as having the ability to play a character in a Guard army in a 40K universe based event would be enjoyable. Need to get kit and so forth still but have spoken to the Commissar in person before (War and Peace 2007) Hope to get things sorted soon though only recently started getting funds again so gotta let the old bank account fill out a little before spending too much.

*grabs shotgun and looks bemused*
Howdy all newcomers. I'm rogue_sword on ASCUK, and although ive been on here a while I tend to keep fairly quiet! Expect that to change as soon as we get some bigger events going. Am planning on a scount character for the 9th but have a full set of blood stained, chaod marked cultist robes/sword if necessary.

hello there! im matt, from Bristol
i have been playing 40k for about 15 years and airsoft for about 10. im pretty handy at bodgery in general, organising airsoft events and am very well versed in teh 40k fluff. not very clued up on the larp side of things but i could certainly be of use to you guys on the story/props/airsoft side of things. have always wanted to play a 40k themed airsoft skirmish. im sure the interest is there, as the crossover of people between the hobbys is immense.
Ps. I am his will made manifest.

Howdy! Which race are you interested in playing? Most of us seem to be Guard, but there are Chaos and Tau projects ongoing.

hi roguesword, thanks for the reply. i was thinking imperial but i always support the underdog, so i'd be happy to go reprisent the great enemy. guard + tentacles = yay! im guessing that the scenario may be set on a damocles gulf world with some Gue'vesa (tau empire humans), like the planet chronos in DOW dark crusade? that could lend itself to some interesting characters and kit. oh ive got 2 mates who built some blood pact armour just for a laugh, bet they would be up for a bit of chaos action. needs some work though, was supposed to be dyed red but is actualy pink!
oh, im looking at the possiblility of making a batch of 'non specific chunky sci fi rifles' that bear a passing resembance to lasrifles, built around budget chineese airsoft guns. would that be of interest to your members? bear in mind that they would be cheap (probably £50-100 each) but a bit brittle mechbox wise but i cant imagine you pump off tens of thousands of rounds at your events.

sounds very cool indeed... Non specific sci fi rifle sounds pretty cool - the scarovian already Have ourselves a standard issue lasrifle based from a G36, but as you say there are others out there...
Would love to see the blood pact armour at some point! i can do a bit of a chaos cultist thing if need be, but primarily I'm all for the guard character.
no details of any campaign have been released yet so I cant comment as far as the world goes. At the moment the 9th outnumber any other player faction so I would imagine this summer we'll be fighting mostly monster crews (I'm hoping 'nids in the dark! Much fun to be had with glow in the dark stuff and creepy claws)

furey – the non-specific lasgun project sounds good but I would consider using the slightly better clones (JG etc) rather than BE for example. Granted we won’t be putting 1,000’s of rounds out there but all that work on the shell would deserve a longer lasting internal I believe.
I suggest that you get one made up and then put the project up on the Modification section we have in the forum (http://grimdarkness40k.proboards50.com/index.cgi?board=weaponmod )
I’m sure people will pay approx £150 for a completed unit if it includes half decent internals.
You have my permission to use the Modification section to advertise your finished project.
All – the campaign will be based on a Grand Crusade so will feature on several different planets but in the same sector of the galaxy.
I have not released any details of this as our numbers were low. Now it seems our numbers are growing significantly and I can move forward on these details.

Second that. After all you can get a serious load of decent cheapsoft guns from gunners for a mere £50 each if you bulk order. Would make sense to make one and then wait for enough interest to put a bigger order in.

Camera and PC are not talking to each other right now, but there's a photoshop mockup here - stormdancer.huntress.org/airsoft/boltgun.htmPage is in need of updating, but I was waiting on actual pics. The thing is finished, pretty much. Just needs the Aquilla. I have most of the componants I need for an imperial guardsman too, just stuck on torso armour. I've been reading about a G36/lasgun conversion that keeps jamming? Any chance it uses the Private Parts M16 magwell conversion? If it does, that's what my Boltgun has, and I had similar problems. Fixed it with some foam sheet, carefully cut.

Excellent work, can’t wait for post-production pictures.
Question – wouldn’t the normal G36 magazine be more appropriate? They’re much more chunky than the M16 5.56 versions which could suit bolt rounds better.
What did you use as the fore grip? Looks like a SPAZ-12 charging handle to me in the concept picture so I’m wondering what you used in the real unit as that concept one looks like the perfect marriage.

Nice Bolter design. I'd have to mirror Manius' comment and stick to using the big chunky G36 mags as Bolt round clips.
Following Treadheads instruction, I bulked out the magwell on my lasgun (with plasticard rather than metal admitedly), and I've never had a single feeding problem using hi or lo-caps.
