Grim Darkness is the name of the LRP rules system as devised initially to aid the members of the 9th Scarovar Rifles group to depict the Warhammer 40k universe they wanted in a Live Role Play environment.
The rules set turned out to be adaptable enough to allow affiliate groups to join the “system” and play against or alongside the 9th at LRP events dedicated to the system.
So, this forum was set up to help facilitate this and to act as a portal for new players to join the system.
Without a significant and dedicated player base, there can be no events, so we look forward to you joining us in this venture to bring Warhammer 40k to life!
Live Role Play is a method of depiction of character. You take on the character of your choice, create that character using the Grim Darkness rules and attempt to depict that character to those around you at an event. It is a form of acting but the level of “acting” is entirely up to you, the more you put into an event the more you get out in both fun and other items to enhance your overall enjoyment of the system as a whole.
Airsoft is a hobby which uses realistic LOOKING weapons to take part in semi-military simulation. Airsoft weapons (or Realistic Imitation Firearms – RiF’s - as defined in the Violent Crime Reduction Act) generally fire 6mm spherical plastic ammunition at velocities not exceeding 1.35j with a generally accepted speed of 328 feet per second.
RiF’s cannot, in any form, be converted to fire Live rounds. Any hinting even at such is absolute falsehood as they are not constructed from any material that could withstand the compression forces produced by live firearm rounds.
RiF’s are NOT firearms of any classification.
Violent Crime Reduction Act this recent law has helped define RiF’s and Airsoft into a clear classification and restricted the importation, manufacture and sale/purchase of RiF’s to those who can demonstrate they are to use them for their intended purpose (i.e. Airsoft skirmishing and its subsidiary pastimes). I will not go into any further detail on this law here other that to advise people interested to seek relevant information from dedicated Airsoft forums.
