Portal LRP is a club that runs airsoft based LRP (with full contact with LRP safe weapons) and the Campaign has been running over the last three years and recently finished Season 1. Season 2 is due to start shortly.
The Campaign is set 120 years in the future in world where Corporations rule a once war torn world. Some years ago now the Portal Corporation developed gateways accross the dimensions allowing teams to explore these dimensions as well as small pockets between them, and Blue Team Alpha (BTA) is its prime team for off dimension exploration team, comprising mostly a military contingent as well as Corporate scientific staff (well and the odd world domination candidate, he is odd and his names Eaglet, really winds him up if you just call him Mr Eaglet). BTA has been active for about two and a half years, and is currently lead by Lt Col Max Mcleod, or just Max to the lads, and is the primary player focus at the events. There are generally between 13 and 15 active team members on any single mission. FYI I am S/Sgt Loftus, BTA QM
The next event 5th-7th September 2008 is based at the Pheonix airsoft urban site near mansfield, nottinghamshire. Previous games have all been in the south west so this is a first move in locality (future events will be around the UK) and while all player places for this event have long gone (booking record for an event is about an hour) crew are required for the event.
Crewing is not only free there is a raffle for a free place on the event after from the crew of this event as well as bacon arnies for breakfast and an endless supply of tea and coffee. Events generally run from about 8pm Friday evening to 1pm Sunday, so anyone wishing to crew may do all or part of the event. So far Time-In runs to anywhere from 11pm - to 3am dependant on event after which depending on the finish time there is usually a certain amount of socialising, however this is subject to change dependant on the event, as a player myself I am not privy to the plans for this one, with Time-in returning around breakfast time.
This event is called The Professors Secret, the professor, or Professor Robinson to be more precise cropped up in the first episode of season 1 (there had previously been a pilot), and was a former Portal Employee whom had helped develop the portal generators used by the teams. However during the project the Professor stole the technology and ran off to another dimension to run the experiments he could not get away with in the home dimension, that being human experimentation. He developed the Gene stealers that he used to cause war between the corporations back home, which included destruction of the World Council WCC and Portal HQ before actions of BTA removed the gene stealers at the seats of power and restored peace, albeit in aonce more changed world. It was thought the professor had been captured by BTA and subsequently killed by one of the team, until late in Season 1 it was revealed that he had also learned to clone humans and that the Robinson killed had only been a clone. At this point the location of the real? professor robinson was learned as well as the fact he was alive and well and the gene stealers that had caused us so much grief were also his creation and BTA's next mission is to follow this up...least thats what we think we are doing, and how us Grunts on the ground view what has happened.
To register for the event as crew PM Dave Gallagher (Adminstrator) on the portal forums. While the player places have currently gone this is subject to late change, though there may well be a waiting list

As well as the LRP aspect there is also an online RP element to the forums, with ocassional missions that registered characters can take part in irrespective of whether playing on an event or not. please note registration to forums and main site are seperate in both login details and passwords, however if you register on main site and create a character you should register on the forums as that character. Dave has posted an online mission will start soon and run to around time of this next mission
Players for the events travel from as far afield as the Shetlands, Ireland as well as midlands, London South and Sout west of England, so if you get hooked as crew, there is no reason you can't play a future event...
