Claymore bags and Ammunition Bandoleers!!
Both for the Imperial Guard “rough and ready” look and for current Special Forces impressions Vietnam era/style Claymore bags and Ammunition Bandoleers capable of holding 30 round magazines are really sought after!
I really balk at the thought of spending £15 plus postage for a Claymore Bag for example from Sofmilitary. They get snaffled up on Ebay for silly money as well!!
Neither have adjustable shoulder straps and are made from pretty flimsy fabric (cotton usually).
Why the HELL don’t we just make the buggers!?! Why isn’t there someone out there making repo versions for Airsofters, Paintballers or Re-enactors?
I recently paid £8.00 on ebay for a bandoleer that holds 4 x 30 round M16 magazines. Pretty rare as they’re normally only available for 303 clips or 20 round VN magazines…I received it yesterday and to say it’s a simple thing to make would be to insult the very meaning of “simple”.
So, I am now determined more than ever to start making these things. I am in the process of securing a supply of suitable cloth (Hessian I think as it’ll be more durable) and webbing for the shoulder strapping. I will make them with adjustable shoulder straps as well (the addition of one plastic buckle will do it!), and with my new found access to a sewing machine (thank you local airsofter) I will see about pushing out Claymore Bags and Ammunition Bandoleers.
I’m waiting to see if I can secure a genuine Claymore Bag to work as a pattern but both Claymore Bags and Bandoleers will be made to fit various loadouts.
I propose making bags and bandoleers to fit both 5.56 and 7.62 30 and 20 round magazines, as well as general utility versions for BB’s and Gas cans. I will also look about producing them in a few colours, namely, Olive (of course), Black and Grey.
Comments please? Is this worth the effort or should I just do these for myself only?

If I had the skill and materials, I'd just make the buggers myself and if people wanted them, I'd supply.

What material do you want them making out of? I can get most fabric types fairly easily and have absolutely nuts loads of web strapping, snap clips are relatively cheap and slide buckles are also cheap. I also have a couple of the KA VN mids so I have the dimensions (I can also do them for other mag types as I have M4 mags and can get AK mags fairly easily) so how many mags how many bandoleers and do we waant single or double stacking. last question is velcro closure or snap buckle? (snap buckles will make it quieter and more expensive)
oh just saw you are planning on doing this yourself.....

Hey, John..you wanna do...you go and do! More hands doing this will be better I think. We'll see what the group/members think and see how many are needed.
VN originals are made from heavy duty cotton, Egyptian perhaps, so were very simple. Not sure about claymore bags yet, waiting on mine (if my lucky with my ebay bid!), but the bandoleer i've just got looks like a child made it!
Seriously, 4 mags double stacked would be a decent size for most people and a range of 20 round, 30 round M4 mags and AK47 mags would do it.
