What the Feth are necrons anyway? I stopped watching GDW stuff many moons ago so need a little help.

They look like Terminators (minus the skin - Arnie models) but the are intended to be 40k's UNDEAD army. Bascially, they were once normal sentient beings but learnt to move their "souls" into mechanical forms, they usually use really nasty weapons called Gause Guns which Flay enemies alive and they're commanders have the ability to Resurrect their "dead" soldiers.
When they initially came out they were seriously overpowered (as seems the habit of GW), since re-realeases of other races though I think they're more balanced (if only because the other races are now more powerful too).
