Planning on going to my first event in the new year. A friend is a clan leader and she has sorted me a charicter, so I can just turn up and play it.

Yes I do. I've been playing for a year as a fairly comedic Flembic character, Prof. Julian DeMarke. But if you're malathians I'm more likely to be making snide comments about you lol. If you see an utterly cluless flembic gent wandering about and talking about alchemy and myrmidon hunting, its probably me...

I've long been impressed by Maestrom's professionalism. The whole effort in costume, characterisation, setting and the general feeling has really impressed me, unfortunately, its that same dedication and setting that puts me off.
I'm not that good at fantasy LRP, well the RP side of it (which is why i'll be better at Grim Darkness, as it has a certain grounding for me in my military side).
The general world setting doesnt really appeal to me mainly though but i'm not holding that against them.

The role play at maelstrom can be done on so many levels, that is what is so fantastic about the game's depth. If you want to play a hugely political character or non combatant then role-playing is going to play a bigger part than if you play one of a group of fidelian tribesman led by someone who is a more confident role player. I think that maelstrom offers somthing for everyone in terms of RP, you just need to be part of the right sort of group and get soaked up in it . Unfortunately the problem is that you can never tell what might have suited you best until you get there and see for yourself. You do need to be part of a group.
