This is an open discussion on effective Imperial Guard tactics. Dead bodies are of no use to the Emperor!

Give us a situation to discuss. A battle situation, maps, unit numbers etc then let us loose.

Gunman I want tactics for taking the village from the both ends. Attacking from the road is suicide as anyone whoes tried already knows. The Cadet Commissar can probably give us a run down of the best defensive positions on site and how many men are and, what equipment is needed to hold them. Here's a link to the site so yoo can look at the angles highlighted on the top eagle eye view. www.gunmanairsoft.co.uk/thesite.php

Right, this'll be a long post then....
I’ll take a platoon of 40 men.
I’m assuming orientation on the photos is North to the top, with the upper photo taken at a 30 degree angle to vertical.
Before I commit to what I’m to propose though –what are the Red triangular sections marked?
-
Basic Plan:
Platoon divided into Five, Eight-man sections. Four standard rifleman sections (1 x grenadier, 1 x special weapons, 6 x riflemen), the fifth section to be command/support (2 x NCO’s, 2 x grenadiers, 2 x special/heavy weapons, 2 x riflemen).
- Assuming initial advance via the road from North moving South –
Immediately out of safe zone: two sections off East towards scrub area, make cover and hold initially.
Sections 3-4 + command, move West off the road and start engagement with buildings ahead (i.e. not the ones shown on the 2nd map).
- Building combat procedure –
2 x sections (1 x rifle, 1 x command) hold at maximum range and put down fire onto windows etc. Third section flank to their right (moving West) to assault building from blind sides.
Question – do I need to describe building storming and occupation here?? I can if needed.
Once first building taken, Re-Org then advance and take remaining buildings.
East sections move South East after initial building in the West taken. They follow line of trees and maximum cover, section covers section with bounding overwatch. Aim is to clear scrubland immediately East and follow main cover South and then West towards road again whilst the sections in the West clear the remaining buildings there (as described above).
East sections (sections 1 & 2) will arrive near road, North of main buildings but in cover still. They dig in and await arrival of command sections.
Command sections clear buildings then move directly South from them over terrain, parallel to road. They Re-Org with Eastern sections.
Eastern sections now cross road and move South into cover area directly West of main buildings.
Command sections move and take over Easts old position then move two sections forward as far as cover allows. Command section itself holding back for support and re-enforcement duties.
From hard cover area in the West, squad 1 attempts to cross road and assault end of building Six. They are directly supported by squad 2 from the hard cover area. If building is secured, both units re-org in building six. If repulsed, they retreat back to hard cover area in the West under covering fire from squad 2.
North – squad 3 attempts supported assault on building 1 whilst squad 4 assaults building 2 – both squads supported by the command squad fire even if command squad needs to move forward to attain this.
Once both buildings are cleared, Re-Org in building 2, leaving half of squad 3 in building 1 to cover buildings 3 & 4 prior to advance.
If squad 1 manages to secure building 6 they hold, allow squad 2 to cross road and join them to defend building.
Squad 4, half of 3 and command squad assault building 4 under covering fire from building 1 and half squad 3. Once taken, half squad 3 and squad 4 move from building 4 to assault building 3 and re-org with the rest of squad 3 moving from building 1 to re-org.
Command squad retains control of building 4 – they become the fire base for the assault on building 5.
Both squads 3 & 4 now assault building 5 under covering fire from building 4 and the command squad. At this point, if possible, squads 1 & 2 also add their fire power and prevent any enemy retreat from building 5.
If needed and possible either squad 1 or 2 can assault building 5 from the rear depending on enemy activity around building 6.
After building 5 is taken command squad re-orgs with squads 3 & 4 in building 5 before they advance across more open ground to building 6 (covering fire given from building 6 and squads 1 & 2).
Re-org, casualty report, medical time.
Same method is used to clear lower buildings as was used for upper buildings, however, with more squads available and potentially greater enemy concentration now, two squads are used per building for assaults (assaulting from two sides if possible) with the command squad giving covering fire.
Same sequence is used from building 6 the next to assault is 7, building 7 & 6 provides cover whilst 8 is assaulted, from 8 to 9 etc.
Once buildings are consolidated, causalities replaced and ammo restocked units can advance under cover and bounding over watch to the bunker. Use of cover on East flank is best used for this whilst at least one squad runs “interference” from the front assault position by putting effective fire down into bunker ready for the assaulting units from the East to strike.
I cannot comment on the “hill” section as I’m unsure if there are any strong points there or there disposition.

- one note though -
This does consitute a good 2-3 hours of hard fighting for a full 40 man platoon who are fit and well organised.
Airsofters....erm....all day perhaps??

Ok, I know how its been done etc, Im trying not to drow on that, rather propper tactics
Asuming that the "Enemy" have had time to embed in the "Village",
Platoon split into 1 Support Section Consisting of sharp shooters and all the platoons mortars, two fire support weapons sections, and five man fire teams, with 4 riflemen with grenades, 1 special or heavy weapons gunner.
Mortars, Sharpshooters and 1 Fire Support Support Section, make a Pre Dawn stealth insetion to what apears to be a soil mound across the road from building 6
The remainder of the Platoon, form up in the wooded area to the north of building 1 &2 until the 1st support section is in position. Once the 1st support section is in position, the remainder of the platoon advances through the village, clearing any resistance as they go.
The remainder of the fire support heavy weapons advance in line with the platoons progress down the east flank of the village, between them the two heavy weapons sections should be able to give Direct and indirect support to the rifle sections.
This may be costly in materiel, so a munitorum resuply will need to be on stand by for a resuply convoy befour the platoon engage the main objective.
Once the village has been pasifyed support section relocates to the area around building 12, firing on "The Hill" with the remainder of platoon fire and manouver to the center bunker, finish with grenades whilst under covering fire. Followed by Hand to hand melee as required.
The "Centre Bunker" apears to actually be two or three Fire Trenches, with a Single sangar.
