Hi, I'm Chris, also known as 'H' or Aitch or whatever. On the system I'm Guardsman Stamper (Vox Operator). Another old hand. Been Role-playing and LRPing since 1986. Like a few of you I grew up with 40K from the start and drifted aways from it a bit when GW changed hands. But, the background is still pretty much unbeatable. I've been playing and running SF LRP games on an off since 87, mainly 'lazer-tag' events in a variety of genres (star wars, aliens) and I'm co-running an ad-hoc 'Dawn Of The Dead' zombie system down southampton way every few months. The next biggish project is helping with is a 'Battlestar Gallactica' LRP weekend which is occuring Late May Bank Holiday 2008 at Harmer Green Scout Site - www.dropzoneonline.org. (Hey come on, everyone else is getting a free plug!). I'm relatively new to airsoft though (only a couple of years) and i've only done two of the 'LRP' airsoft events; Portal and Nexus. A few of you guys have been involved with the early days of Nexus; i'd be interested to know why so many people seemed to have left. (Come on, dish the gossip...) And yeah, I've seen Gebra's helmet (yeah ok fnar fnar) and it's a really nice sculpt. Chris/H/Stamper

Hey Aitch I drifted away from Nexus because I was burnt out from Organisting events - Sniper Training Weekends, Town Assault, working on articles, handling forums and this wasn't long after I had quit organising stuff in the Camarilla so I really just got sick of running around and not playing.....and well to be honest I wrote a fair amount of stuff for Nexus that got dismissed out of hand simply because Nik has his vision and didn't deviate from the course (or even give folks a chance sometimes) I admire him for sticking to his guns but it was a good way to alienate people and it seems thats pretty much whats been happening since. d**n shame - he's a talented dude.

Yep, that just about sounds like it. Nik started taking his ideals even further than that to the point that he simply wouldnt let anything happen at an event, he'd vito all of it. I had 2 £60 events where I literally just sat and did nothing because that's what nik wanted us to do. As well as that when consulted about this he flipped and drove off a lot of people with a 'rules consultation is a right not a privilege' rant (this was after a surprise rules change which obviously wasn't going to benefit the system in any way).
I suppose it doesnt help that he doesnt actually play lrp himself...

Ah, I see. To be honest from the time I spent crewing the event I have been to, not a lot actually seemed to happen. There was an awful lot of trading of 'lammies' going on, but the system seemed to be very much geared up for 'rebuilding the world' through trade and construction (rather than blowing it up - but that's just my take on LRP'ing probably). But that said, it was a nice change of pace and I still kinda enjoyed it in a weird way. This is probably due to the night ambush 5 of us launched on a 12 player strong faction in a wood and geve them a right slapping. Tommy guns rule. The down side of the event was being worried at how young most of the players were. When you start seeing parents dropping off their kids for the weekend you don't half start to feel old...

Sexual preference, favourite drink, favourite childhood memory, how much of an influence you believe your mother had in our upbringing, inside trouser-leg measurement, how you brush your teeth, what brand of bog-roll you use and how many times a day do you scratch your nose, to begin with.

Where abouts in Hertfordshire? I live in Buckinghamshire and the colour and I like a drink every so often so perhaps we could go out on the lash? It would also give me a chance to give you your uniform (once I make my next bulk purchase)
