..and a way to make ACU a “real” camouflage!!
Welcome all new members. I will be in a better position in a few months time to sit down and see about organising a dedicated event based on the Grim Darkness rule system.
Until then, Gunman Airsoft have access to a new site and have links to our group. They continually try to involve us in their regular skirmishes as well as their special events.
Remember the rules for full LRP are located in the Core Rules section as a download. They are open to all and permitted for reproduction upon request here.

Howdy y'all.
Names Ben, most commonly known as Benji. Based in Coventry.
Worked for GW 20 years ago. And got into LRP about the same time. I've played or reffed in most of the LRP games this country has to offer.
Got into airsoft about 5 years ago, and am now a marshall at Gunman Midlands. (I know RogueSword quite well, he's one of our players)
Looking at putting a group together for this little shindig of yours. Not sure what to do yet, but we are working on it.
Also we here at GMM are currently designing a range of off the shelf 40k inspired airsoft guns. So will keep you all posted with our work (and price list) as we start to do them.
So, if you any further question feel free to ask.

Welcome to the forums. As soon as you’ve got some numbers let me know so I can keep track, booking form is downloadable now from the Gunman forums.
Anyone who plays there is more than welcome.

Just one question about the game style really.
Is the game gonna be LRP, or is it a themed Skirmish??
I realise that having an event billed as PvP may get a lot of players through the door, but the turn over in characters may be quite high as a result. If you are looking at a campaign feel, with the potential for on-going characters then maybe consider an LRP game, with one side entirely made of dedicated crew rather than other players. I'm guessing that people here would be willing to play or crew, depending on the vent style. i'e. the chaos players crewing for an Imperial event and vice versa.

Going forward that would be a good plan. This event is to get the rules shown and used and to gauge interest for future events.
There will be elements of Role Play within the plot, players are also encouraged to Role Play amongst themselves (often the best roleplay is something that “happens” and isn’t something that can be planned for).
The idea for the event is difficult to label correctly. The rules and the event is geared towards fast, short combats. I hope that people booking will take the combat rules into account and provide sufficient In Character support skills (medical ones) to keep characters in play.
Ammo will be restricted, as has always been the plan for GD events, as well meaning that combats will happen but you are not going to get 2,000+ rounds going between the combatants during any particular skirmish (I hope!).
Combat “can” be deadly, IF players do not provide themselves with sufficient support or use ammunition up too fast.
My hope is that the RP elements to be provided will route players towards more controlled and thought out combats which are short and achieve the desired aims In Character without taking the high IC risks involved in a mass combat under the rules.
..of course, players always have a nasty habit of breaking most plot writers plots and nullifying their best intentions…
We have to try and remember some key factors really:
1) Numbers are low. Compared to even themed Airsoft events I am aiming at only an attendance of approx. 40 players. Divide that number between groups being given several mission to fulfil at the same time and you end up with minor skirmishes involving 7-10 people. 2) Ammunition restriction. As part of the Role Play, players will have their ammo use restricted IC. 3) Plot flexibility. I am flexible enough to add segments to the plot of the event that can aid the players “survive” without detracting too much from the sense of lethality I’ve been aiming for with the rules. 4) Knock-back rule. Marshalls will be watching in particular for this being used and I hope the players take to it well. It is, to me, an essential part of the rules that artificially imparts caution to combats.
Ultimately, I hope that more "Groups" spring up to support the system as a whole. Run their own events using the rule base (Sanctioned Events) and therefore fill the idea you've suggested.

That sounds exactly as I thought.
Get the idea of the game into peoples psyche, and then expand it to be a more encompassing campaign style game.
Sounds alright to me.
We will start thinking more seriously about what we want to play, but we should be an Imperial group of about 8 people. When we have more stuff finalised I'll let you know.

Ok have been talking to a friend and we're both quite interested its just one thing, we live in the south of Britain, so the only way we can see ourselves getting down to Wales is train so for now we are still looking into our options but has anyone got any experience transporting aegs by public travel?

Transportation of AEG's on public transport should be the same proceedure adhered to for general transportation.
Best they are kept securely in a rifle bag or better still a hard case.
Never...ever...never...are they to be removed or the bag/box opened whilst they are in transport and in a public area (even the toilets...I've neglected to lock toilets on the train...you might too).
Carry proof of VCRA excemption if at all possible - Registered site skirmish ID card for example.
Other than that, treat as normal luggage. Plenty of people transport fishing tackle on trains and, to be honest, to a layman the bags look not dissimilar to a rifle bag.
Sorry the event site is in Wales...I actually am but other sites didn't have the mix of terrain/sets that would enhance the event.
